Well both Chrissy and I decided to take the day off work to follow what's happening near us just in case it got worse. As you can see in the videos, the air is much clearer today but it looks like that's just because the wind is blowing more west today. The fires are still moving very fast and some homes have been lost unfortunately. The latest update was that 15,000 people have been evacuated and 23,000 acres have been burned in this valley alone!! The fires up here are no longer the headlines on the news, though. There are many new fires in East LA that have been destroying many many homes and seem to be getting stronger, too. The biggest problem being that there aren't enough resources to go around...even with all the help from Northern CA, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada.
This video is from the same hill as yesterday's video. You can see how much closer to us the fires are getting (but we're still quite safe).
This video was taken on a different hill on the west side of our small valley. The wind was blowing so hard that I don't think you can understand a single word I say but you get an idea of how crazy things are getting.
